Folklore and events at Cortina

To name but a few: the mountain races such as The North Face Lavaredo Ultra Trail, the Cortina Dobbiaco Run, the Rally Dolomiti Historic and the Coppa d’Oro delle Dolomiti (the Dolomites Gold Cup). Exhibitions, concerts and wine and food events are held throughout the summer season, making your stay an exciting one in all aspects.

Despite the town’s worldwide renown, the traditions of Cortina are still firmly in place. The first Sunday of July marks the annual Sagra d’Ampezzo (an outdoor festival) and the Corsa dei Sestieri, during which the neighbourhoods (sestieri) in which Cortina is divided challenge each other in various outdoor games.

At the end of August and for an entire week of music, traditional Ampezzo Valley costumes and Cortina folklore, Cortina hosts the Festa delle Bande, with performances of bands from all over the world side by side with bands from the Ladino valleys dressed in their wonderful traditional costumes.
